As far back as I can remember, I have always loved animals, especially dogs, and wanted to save them all.
In 2000, my life was drastically altered after a horrific car accident caused me to be paraplegic. For the following three years, while wheelchair bound, I found solace in fostering dogs. As I learned to walk again, saving dogs became my calling. I started taking on more significant roles with the rescue I was fostering for by transporting dogs, doing home checks, interviewing and recruiting fosters, sending out applications for adoptions, and volunteering at adoption events. Eventually, I started planning and organizing successful dog adoption events in my community, raising over ten thousand dollars for the rescue. My area of expertise was senior dogs and those with special needs, or any dog considered challenging to adopt.
During my twenty years with the rescue, I found new loving homes for countless dogs whose families could no longer keep them and asked for my help. For this reason, I established my nonprofit 501(c)3 organization in 2022,
Find My Dog A Home Foundation for families needing to rehome their dogs.
Changing times have shifted the current focus of FMDAH to assisting rescues/rescuers doing the hands-on work through fundraising support for medical needs, training, rehabilitation, food, supplies, transport, and more.
